Lion Abilities - Full Breakdown
Lion Call - Cooldown Reduction for All Pets
Every 8 minutes 20 seconds, Lion roars and calls all pets in your garden to move toward it. When they arrive, every active pet receives cooldown advancement totaling 404 seconds distributed across all pets (maximum 60.6 seconds per pet). This means pets can use their abilities sooner than their natural timer would allow.
In practice: if you run 5 pets alongside Lion, each gets up to 60.6 seconds of cooldown removed every 8:20 minutes. For pets with 5-minute cooldowns, this means they activate roughly 20% more frequently. The Lion Call scales with Lion's weight - heavier Lion reduces cooldown on shorter intervals.
King of the Safari - Safari Mutation Multiplier
Every 9 minutes 21 seconds, Lion roars and applies a random Safari mutation to a number of fruits equal to the number of different Safari-type pets in your garden. Zero Safari pets equipped = zero fruits mutated per activation. One Safari pet = one fruit per activation. Five different Safari-type pets = five fruits mutated every 9:21 minutes.
Safari mutations are a specific category of plant mutations with their own multiplier values. The more Safari-type pets you have active, the more mutations Lion applies per cycle. This creates a compounding return: every Safari pet you add increases both Lion's output and the total mutation coverage per garden session.
Lemon Lion vs Safari Lion
There are two Lion variants in Grow a Garden. The Safari Lion (this guide) came from the Mega Safari Harvest Event (November 8, 2025). The Lemon Lion came from a previous admin event and has different abilities focused on plant mutations with specific multipliers. They look similar but perform differently. When trading, always confirm which Lion variant you are looking at - Lemon Lion and Safari Lion have different token values and utility profiles.

When Lion Value Goes Up vs Down
Lion Value Increases When:
More players build Safari-optimized gardens and realize Lion is essential for that setup. New Safari-type pets get added to the game via events. Players who understand the Chimera crafting system (Lion + Goat + Emerald Snake = Chimera) buy Lion specifically for crafting. Post-event scarcity gradually reduces supply as older players leave the game or trade away their Lions.
Lion Value Decreases When:
New event pets with stronger universal utility release (like Blood Owl when it launched). Players who bought Lion without Safari pets realize it underperforms and sell. The unstable market flag means value can swing 30-50% in either direction within weeks. Currently at 5 tokens on medium demand - the unstable flag means you should verify in calculator before every Lion trade rather than assuming stable value.
Tier Rankings
S-tier. With 5 Safari pets, King of Safari applies 5 mutations per 9:21 minute cycle. Lion Call gives all pets 60.6s cooldown reduction every 8:20min. Transforms Safari gardens.
C-tier. King of Safari does nothing without Safari pets. Lion Call still reduces cooldowns but 5 tokens for cooldown reduction alone isn't the best value vs Blood Owl or Night Owl for XP.
B-tier. 5 tokens Divine with 1,425 active trades means decent liquidity. Unstable flag means price can move. Buy low, sell when demand spikes with new Safari event content.
A-tier need. Chimera (Lion + Goat + Emerald Snake) combines all three abilities. Dedicated Chimera crafters specifically buy Lion as a crafting ingredient, creating persistent demand.

Two 5-Token Divine Pets - Which Side Wins?
Same token value, different demand stability
Lion and Blood Kiwi are both 5-token Divine pets making a straight swap fair at token parity. However, Blood Kiwi's stable market means it holds value more consistently. Lion's unstable flag means its price could be 4 tokens or 7 tokens next week. For a straight token-for-token swap, this is fair. If Lion's value has risen recently, Blood Kiwi side should add small extras to balance.
